The library of the Institute was founded in 1944 to promote Forest Science, is one of the oldest highly specialized scientific libraries in the country. It contains a large selection of books, journals, CD-ROMs and other resources.


The collection compromise about 7.700 volumes of books and 349 titles of scientific journals frïm which 36 are annually renewed. It covers mainly Forest Science and secondly Agriculture. It must be noted that the library contains antique editions such as written in Gothic and dated form 1800 and on.


The collection is catalogued according to the Subject Headings of the Library of Congress as well as the Subject Headings of the National Library of Greece. Every item is classified by the FDC System (Forest Decimal Classification System introduced by IUFRO) with the combination of DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification) for editions of general interest. Its Library automation software is ABEKT provided by the National Documentation Center.

The library is open to the public as a reading library a limited number of photocopies could be provided
